History

1950's
  • Implementation of formal training in administration in the country: first undergraduate course in administration - a pioneering venture in Latin America.
1960's
  • Initial steps for institutionalizing graduate courses in administration in the country.
  • CLaunch of the Master of Public Administration course in the Country. .
  • Pioneering initiative in adopting the credit-based system instead of the yearly curriculum.
  • EBAPE, with its present structure is established: Education-Research-Technical Consultancy.
  • Editorial program sponsored by the Ford Foundation, resulting in an unprecedented number of books and papers on public administration.
1970's
  • Broadening of the scope of external relations; both in Brazil and abroad.
  • Consolidation of the Master's course, with the inclusion of public policy.
  • Increase in the scope of lato sensu graduate courses and several programs of managerial training.
  • Installation of EBAPE activities in the head offices of FGV in Brasília, marking the beginning of a more intensive presence of the Foundation in that city.
  • Participation as a founder member of the National Association of Graduate Programs in Public Administration.




1980's
  • Expansion of graduate programs.
  • Expansion of EBAPE activities: over 2,000 students in several cities around Brazil.
  • Broadening of the international frontiers of the school: international relations with the U.S, Europe and Latin America and affiliation to international organisms: CLADEA, INTERMAN, CLAD. Permanent presence of faculty members abroad.
1990's
  • Emphasis on the production and systematic structuring of knowledge on administration, seeking to maintain its pioneering spirit and position.
  • Consolidation of graduate programs and intensification of activities in consultancy and qualification of human resources in public administration and the business sector of the State.
  • Solid growth in continuing education in business administration.
  • Development of a regional-based strategy providing logistical support to state and municipal public administration.
  • Emphasis on international penetration.
  • International partnerships with ONU.
  • Support for OEA(OAS) and CLAD programs..
  • Reconciling its academic vocation with the ability to provide services, namely a quest for financial equilibrium.
  • Institution of the Ph.D. in Administration program..
